Urgent Care Services:Same-Day Help for Sudden Pet Needs
Veterinary urgent care provides same-day veterinary services for pets with sudden illness or injury. Travelers Rest Animal Hospital added a dedicated urgent care department in 2025 with two veterinarians available during regular business hours to address urgent needs quickly and effectively.
When To Seek Urgent Care
Urgent Care is designed for pets experiencing acute illness or trauma. Same-day evaluation helps us treat conditions quickly and prevent them from worsening. Common urgent concerns include:
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Urinary obstruction or infection
- Acute lameness or sudden difficulty moving
- Eye problems such as squinting, swelling, or sudden cloudiness
Prompt attention to these issues can make all the difference in your pet’s comfort and recovery, so don’t wait to seek help if you notice any of these signs.
Same-Day Comfort Visits
Some conditions may not be life-threatening but still cause your pet significant discomfort. Our urgent care team can often see these cases the same day to bring relief sooner:
- Skin and dermatologic issues
- Ear infections
Addressing these problems quickly helps your pet return to normal activity and avoid complications.
Diagnostic and Treatment Capabilities
Travelers Rest Animal Hospital is equipped to handle a wide range of urgent cases. Our resources include:
- A small animal intensive care unit with an oxygen cage
- Medical boarding facilities for sick patients requiring monitoring
- On-site diagnostic imaging and laboratory testing
- Veterinarians with extensive urgent and emergent care experience, including diagnostic ultrasonography
These capabilities allow us to provide thorough evaluation and care for a wide range of urgent conditions.
Urgent Care vs. Emergency Care
Urgent Care is not the same as emergency veterinary care. While our team can stabilize trauma and other serious conditions, some life-threatening emergencies may require transfer to a local emergency and specialty hospital for advanced treatment. Our staff coordinates with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
How To Access Urgent Care
If your pet requires Urgent Care, please call ahead for the next available time. Wait times may be longer than routine visits due to the complexity of urgent cases. All patients must be current on rabies vaccination in compliance with state law.
Travelers Rest Animal Hospital has been family-owned and privately operated for more than 20 years. The addition of urgent care reflects our continued commitment to providing timely, compassionate care for pets in our community.
